Stylish picnic dressing is harder than it looks – these are the six rules to know
After the Princess of Wales delivered a masterclass at the Chelsea Flower Show, we consider some key dos and dont's. By Tamara Abraham

“Annabel Hodin, a personal stylist, is also a fan of the knitted tank, particularly when teamed with a white or striped poplin shirt. “Wear one colour top-to-toe, using the shirt as the accent,” she says – a strong example of this comes courtesy of another member of the Royal family, the Princess of Wales, who wore a grey Cefinn tank with grey Sezane trousers back in October.
As far as the knit itself is concerned, Hodin adds: “Avoid typical country patterns. Tank tops look best in a block colour and with a looser fit. For a youthful, casual look, try an oversized cashmere version with jeans.
If you can’t resist an injection of drama, Hodin says an oversized Argyle is the way to go. Double-down on that preppy aesthetic with a pleated mini or midi skirt.”
